51ĀŅĀ× and Saginaw Valley State University have entered into a new partnership agreement that will streamline pathways for Delta students to complete an associateās degree and then transfer to Saginaw Valley State University to complete their bachelorās degree.
Michael Gavin, president of 51ĀŅĀ×, and George Grant Jr, president of Saginaw Valley State University, signed a new cooperative partnership agreement Thursday, Aug. 8 to enhance degree attainment at both institutions.
āAs part of 51ĀŅĀ×ās strategic plan, The Way Forward, Delta is focused on ensuring students complete their degree and succeed after graduation,ā said Gavin. āHelping our graduates obtain a bachelorās without losing credits, time or money, removes the barriers that often prevent students from achieving their goals.ā
āSVSU welcomes more transfer students from 51ĀŅĀ× than any other institution, and todayās signing will only serve to increase those opportunities for students, as we collaborate to provide high-quality postsecondary education for our community,ā said George Grant Jr., SVSU president.
Under the agreement, SVSU and 51ĀŅĀ× will develop transfer student pathways that will allow students to complete an associateās degree at 51ĀŅĀ× prior to transferring to complete a bachelorās degree at SVSU.
51ĀŅĀ× and SVSU will also enhance their existing reverse transfer process for students who have transferred to SVSU prior to associate degree attainment, by automatically sending completed credits back to 51ĀŅĀ× to evaluate for possible associate degree completion.
